The set is definately worth buying especially if you get it for $2, but even the $18 regular/$13 Platinum Club price isn't bad.

Rendering wasn't so bad. I rendered 2000px x 2000px @200dpi and Antialias set to best and most only took 5-6 minutes. This was with Carrara 6 Pro which has multi processor support so I essentially get 4 renders at once on my quad core cpu. I'm having a problem with only 2GB of memory on some renders, though, so time to increase that. If I use network rendering I can have my other three laptops helping out as well. I'll probably try that on some full scene renders. I haven't tried Bryce or VUE PLE on the quad core yet to see how well they fare and haven't checked if they have Multicore support.

Vue does, but I am not sure about the Vue PLE version. I am getting a Quad Core myself and will try to use my older PC together with that one to render Vue scenes
