Hello, I had been looking for a formal garden map and
didn't find one I liked to I threw this together. I may
make extended sections for larger parks.

I like it. Some additional tiles to make larger parks
would be cool. Getting tiles to match up when you have
objects like the the stones can sometimes be difficult.
Using some transistion tiles can usually help.
My one critique would be the stones look like they're
floating. Maybe a different background under them or some
shading would help.

Nice. Looks like there's potential to make a whole "Parks & Gardens" geomorphic tileset from this idea.

The white gravel on the grass seems rather incongruous to me. It gives it a littered look, where one would expect such a garden (typically located in a wealthy estate) to be very well maintained.

The statues might look nicer if you brightened them to have a white marble look.

Is the scale correct on the benches? They seem a bit on the small side.

Thanks for critiques! The white stones those are
supposed to be tiny white flowers, to me solid unbroken
green grass looks unnatural. In this version I shaded
and made the stone edges 1/3 opaque to blend into the
grass better. I also made the statues smaller and
whiter, benches larger and changed the pedestals.

Great changes, all of them.

One thing I really like about this garden is how all the different collaged elements match in light and temperature. Nothing sticks out due to lighting or color. Remember how in the sci-fi movies of the 70s and 80s you could tell when someting was blue-screened into the shot because the matted things would look too pink or too green (or worse, there'd be an interference edge all around the object)? Nothing like that here.

I especially like the little white flowers. They are a nice touch. Most people walk right by the wild white violets and the veronica/speedwell when the world warms up in the spring.

Me? I look for them. (Obviously.) Nothing says spring to me more than seeing a road median or a suburban lawn overtaken by teeny white or purple flowers!

I love the rocks. Did you have to look for individual pictures of each one, so as to make the tile? I'm still new at this sort of thing myself and so I'm really curious as to how other members make their maps and objects.

Hmmm ... way too may questions, bordering on the impolite. I'll just close here and thank you again for a way cool garden!

Yeah, the new tile is to computer manufactured texture looking, not natural like the rocks.

Here's a few textures that might work better:

I agree, I want a more natural pathway but I want them
to be rotatable. I will work on it.

For the rocks I started with a freeware shot of some
rocks and then cut them out and placed them. Getting
the shading to match is hard (for me) and takes time
for each element. I do everything in Photoshop and
match each element by placing them next to each other
and darkening/lightening until them look natural to
each other. I spend a lot of time on the floors to
make them look and nice and "real" as possible as they
take up a lot of space on the map. Dundjinni is
awesome for all the parts.
